First Aid Training

 

This course teaches first aid without training in CPR. Learn to perform first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding, sprains and strains; treat sudden illnesses, including poisonings and heat and cold emergencies; minimize the effects of shock; recognize emergencies and take action.

 

Guidelines: No previous training required

Adult CPR/ AED and First Aid

Workplace

 

Learn the skills needed to prevent, recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive.  This course covers first aid and adult CPR in an approach featuring hands on practice and real-life scenarios.  Useful take-home course materials help you retain skills and serve as reference tools in an emergency.  Meets OSHA requirements

 

Guidelines.  In addition to CPR, this course also includes training in using an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.

Combines CPR and first aid training to teach participants to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults; perform first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding, sprains and strains; treat sudden illnesses, including poisonings and heat and cold emergencies; minimize the effects of shock; recognize emergencies and take action; and understand the role of AEDs in the Cardiac Chain of Survival.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider

(Adult, Infant and Child CPR plus AED)

 

Professional Rescuer courses are designed for people with a job-related duty to respond in an emergency, including nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, firefighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants and others who must take action in an emergency.

Recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants

Two-rescuer CPR

Use of body substance isolation precautions to prevent disease transmission

Use of resuscitation and bag-valve masks

Use of an AED for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest

Sport Safety Training

Available upon request for groups of 6 minimum.

 

A sports injury prevention, first aid and CPR training course tailored for coaches, athletic trainers and others supporting and supervising, organized athletics.

 

American Red Cross Sport Safety Training helps coaches, athletic trainers and other participants identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in a sports environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions when providing first aid care.

 

The Sport Safety Training program teaches first aid, CPR and AED skills that coaches, trainers and other participants need to know to provide immediate care to an injured or suddenly ill athlete until more advanced medical care arrives.

 

Length: 7 -9.5 Hrs

ONLINE TRAINING-NOW AVAILABLE!

 

Red Cross Online Training offers a way to get trained in vital life-saving skills on your own time, at your own pace, online. Online training courses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any computer with an Internet connection.

 

Red Cross Online Training courses are easy to understand and navigate. Photographs, illustrations, videos and written instruction explain and demonstrate skills. The courses are designed to meet a variety of learning needs and styles, and they work with adaptive technology.

 

Once registered for a course, you have 14 days to complete online training. Online training may take up to three hours to complete; however, you have the option to start and stop the course at your convenience and even complete the course in more than one sitting. Students who take CPR, AED or Basic First Aid courses must also attend a hands-on skill session with an authorized American Red Cross instructor to complete certification.

 

Courses available include Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED, First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. To learn more, please click on the Online Training link at the top of page.

Accidents happen every day and your vet won’t always be around. Take the American Red Cross Pet First Aid class to learn how to help your pet in an emergency.

 

The four hour class will teach you what to do about broken bones, burns, choking, heat emergencies and more.  You will even get to practice CPR on dog and cat manikins!

Babysitter’s Training

If you’re 11 to 15 years old, you can get the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience, Babysitter’s Training shows you how to:

 

Respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care

Make decisions under pressure

Communicate with parents to learn household rules

Recognize safety and hygiene issues

Manage young children

Feed, diaper and care for infants

Water Safety Instructor

 

Whether you want to splash around with kids and teach them to swim, help children or adults refine their strokes or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Qualified instructors can also help prepare swim coaches to prevent and respond to emergency situations.

Lifeguard Training

 

Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? American Red Cross Life guarding is the best place to start! Life guarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water.  Life guarding will help you develop skills and experience that will be valued by colleges and future employers. It's a great way to demonstrate what you can offer. Colleges and employers look for applicants who can deal effectively with people, who have a take charge attitude and who are willing to work to develop new skills.

Minimum Age is 15. Must be able to swim 300 yards without stopping.
